His- story

Have you ever stopped to think of your life and how God plays a role in it? Has He played a starring role or just an extra?

This last weekend I was taught something that I had never thought about before. I mean REALLY thought about. Our lives are not about us, this I know, but it is more than that. This life, the whole human history, is His story. He doesn't just play a role in our lives, we play a role in His. Our life is just one scene in the long span of what is and will be human history. When you think about it like that, it puts things in perspective.

"For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place" -Esther 4:14

Translation: God and His plan will go forward. He is sovereign and we know what happens in the end. The big question is are we going to play a role in His plan. Are we going to submit to His will? I know when I try to live my life on my own, doing what I think is right, I fail miserably. I am comforted to know that God works it out, if we but surrender to His will and make Him the star of the story, and not ourselves.

Even when we are blind to the evidence, God "works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will."

God "works in you to will and to act according to His good purpose."
